3.34 is a duet for two violins. It is an example of how less is more. Looking at the page initially, there appears to be very little there. But as one listens, there is more here than there appears to be. Whats left is a finely crafted and singular conception. It addresses antiphony and does so in a very original way. It is simple dyads that are exchanged. But as they are exchanged, the modality is built up, and then altered in ways that seem both logical and unexpected.
