i'm really interested in the phrase epic banal. to me it means something that is just really beautiful, incredible simple, and just there, present. i've always thought that for things to be interesting or out of the blue, there has to be a baseline of consistency. i think i still agree with that notion, but maybe my opinion has changed slightly on what that consistency is. there is such a beauty in consistency. i think it's so underrated. this piece of music does nothing, it could go on forever, but isn't that quite nice? i certainly think so.
